Photo Gallery - 06th CATS Blood Donation Camp

Since we had not had a blood donation camp since February,
CATS were way too eager to shed some blood for a good cause.
CAT Sandeep opened the account a day in advance as he was
busy on the day of our camp. CAT Vishal also came earlier
as he was tied up with official duties on 10th Dec as well.

On the morning of 10th of Dec'09 I had not even left my home
that I started getting calls from the blood bank about
the donors who had already reached and donated .

These surely were extremely encouraging and heart warming signs :)

We had barely had the chance to set shop on the morning of 10th of Dec'09
for our 06th Blood Donation Camp, that we had some surprise visitors.

Mrs Kanta Swaroop Krishen (Rotary Blood Bank) and
Mrs Mehra (wife of Advisor to the Administrator, Chandigarh)
came to encourage the blood donors and were most surprised
to see the spirited energy bubbling from the donors.

It was sight to behold for our visitors :)

It was heart warming to see CAT Preeti by accompanied by
her husband CAT Naveen. Though he himself could not donate on
medical grounds but he sure ensured to be part of the CATS tradition...

Wish many more would follow the path set by our CAT Jasmine & CAT Jasmeet.

CAT Arti comes only for two activities with CATS.
First if there is a food related activity and second if there is a blood donation camp.

She is as regular in our camps, as the bananas and milk
served in the refreshments at the blood bank post bleeding!

Team of Rotarians came in strength to form another cheer brigade
for the bleeding CATS. It was nice to see the little contribution which
CATS make in their Heartline Project, being so whole heartedly
appreciated by the Rotarians.

CAT Anu C led the brigade from SDI,
who were are active partners in this blood donation camp.

There were CATTY cheers all around :)

Qatra Qatra Boond Se Saagar Banta Hai....
aur yeh qatre kitne khush hain :)

Even the lunch hour was bustling with donors..

Blood Bank staf was kept busy by all our donors in writing out
the certificates and preparing the gift packs...

SDI gang making merry after donating blood in the 'Refreshment Room'

and don't even ask the story behind the donation of CAT Hemant
and myself!

CAT Hemant was told that he must drink lots of water as his
pulse was high or he would be deferred. Since this was his
5th donation and he wanted to claim his 'Special Key Ring'
from CATS, he was determined that he would do
anything to donate. As he was busy making trips to the loo
after drinking gallons of water, I was told that my BP was low
and hence may be deferred.

So I consumed coffee and made a couple of trips upstairs using
the staircase. On my second attempt, my BP became normal but
now my pulse became high! As much as we could not get it right,
both of us tried every remedy under the sun to successfully
donate blood along with the rest of our CATS!

Donors kept everyone busy whilst this drama was happening to CAT Hemant and I.

Despite his packed schedule, CAT Ashish A came to donate blood
for the 6th time... I sure hope many more take cue from
his dedication towards blood donation :)

It was good to catch up with our rarely seen CATS coming forward to donate blood too :)

Meet our first time donor CAT Minnie, who was accompanied
by her brother and his beautiful newly wedded wife Reshma :)

Hats off to this young family CATS...
Infact.. This family deserves a standing ovation!

CAT Onkar, his wife, daughter Guneet accompanied their
18yr old son Navpreet for his first blood donation.
If this sense of responsibility is not enough, all of them
together signed the Eye Donation Form too and pledged their eyes
after death to light up lives of 8 people who can not see.

Could there be a better way to celebrate life CATS?

One merry gang of SDIans after donating blood :)

Yet another first time blood donor.. Girls did lead the way all day..
I had to take up the cases of many deferred cases with the Doctors
since every single girl was determined to join the
previledged queue of CATS Blood Donors

CAT Jyotika was deferred for a few days but went back to
donate blood for the first time as well...

Three MEOWS for our spirited felines :)

CAT Paramjeet brought in 6 friends to donate. Rajiv came from office,
Jagbandhu and Aman came before going to office, Raj came with his
little son who was still in uniform.

Wish there were many more Paramjeets around to take this blood donation drive forward....

the ones who missed the boat on 10th, came forward on 11th Dec
to make their contribution for such a noble cause...

It was good to see that in this camp, we had more willing donors than reluctant ones coming forward.. May the goodluck from this camp stay FOREVER!

A 'probable' CAT Sumeer who has promised to bring in atleast
5 donors for each of our next camps, provided he gets a week's advance notice :)

Overall, it was a highly successful camp with 79 donations and despite 10 deferrals. 60 donors came from SDI whilst the rest from CATS and their friends.

The icing on the cake was that 30 pairs of eyes were also pledged as per records held by CATS. It was humbling to see families coming forward to pledge their eyes collectively.

With this, I bow to each one of you for making this camp an absolute success and I sure look forward to your continuous support in all of our future endeavours too.

- CAT Supreet

(Brinder and CAT Hemant deserve a special mention for keeping the records in order throughout the day for me.)
