CATS & Mumbai Terror Attack

Dear CATS,

The recent terror attacks in Mumbai have left an indelible mark on each one of us. It was sudden, it was shocking, it was cruel, in was uncompromisingly planned, it was against the simple laws of humanity.

Determined as the perpetrators of this crime might have been, WE WON.

We won against terror, we won against the misguided ideologies, we won against the ruthless killers.

Yes, we paid the price too. We have had to live through 183 (if correct and final) pyres and/or burials. These lively individuals with body of dreams have been left as bodies without souls.

We SALUTE each of the martyrs who laid their lives in the line of fire. Infact, I draw your attention to this photograph which we took during our trip to Leh this summer. This indeed was the most poignant moment of our motoring expedition whist we were visiting 'Hall of Fame' on the outskirts of Leh city; a museum paying tribute to our brave defence personnel who have been fighting to guard us in the most hostile conditions.

…If I die in the battle zone, put me in a box and send me home,
pin my medals on my chest,
tell my mom I did my best ….
Not a soul has been left untouched due to the incidents of the last few days CATS. Let's all meet up this Sunday at Kafe Kafi Kuchh (hidden garden at Lajpat Bhawan in sec.15) at 3pm to share and discuss what all of you would like to do to commemorate this tragedy which has reached out to every soul.

I have already had the following suggestions from some of you:
a) 183 CATS to take out Candle light procession at the Lake
b) 183 Candle Lights at Peace Monument at the Lake
c) 183 Candle lights at the War Memorial
d) Float 183 diyas in the Reflecting Pools of The High Court (provided we get te permission)
e) Plant 183 saplings in memory of each death (can only be done towards end of February as plantation season is over)
f) Distribute winter clothes to 183 poor children
g) Each CAT must get First Aid training to ensure that we can take care of the basics, heaven forbid in a case of such tragedy/attack
h) Raise the awareness of the importance of Blood Donation, since blood is what is generally needed in abundance in such tragedies

Look forward to meeting all of you on Sunday with bags full of ideas offering a lasting memorial.

Sombre,
CAT Supreet
