Heritage Walk Itinerary

7.30 am - Assembly at Open Hand Monument. All CATS must reach the ‘Trench of Consideration’ upon parking their vehicles; which is the sunken amphitheatre from where the Open Hand emerges.

7.45 am - A brief and interesting insight by our fellow CAT Pradeep K Bhagat (Asst. Professor, Chandigarh College of Architecture) into The Open Hand Monument in specific, and The Capitol Complex at large. Immediately after this brief, CATS shall join the rest of the heritage walkers.

8.00 am - Heritage Walk starts from the Open Hand Monument. CAT Pradeep K Bhagat will point out some facts worthy of note pertaining to Chandigarh along the walk

8.25 am - Reach War Memorial and spend some time with our War Heroes

8.35 am - Refreshments

8.45 am - Another interesting brief by CAT Pradeep K Bhagat, taking us through the making of our War Memorial

9.00 am - Either take a walk around the Bougainvillea Gardens OR walk back to the Open Hand Monument towards your cars OR hitch a ride back on one of the ferry vehicles provided by Chandigarh Tourism for the Heritage Walkers


Walk INCLUDES
· Guided walk from Open Hand Monument to War Memorial
· Refreshments upon reaching War Memorial
· Vehicles to ferry the Heritage Walkers back to the Open Hand Monument

Following conditions MUST BE FOLLOWED for the walk
· Please stick to the route of the walk.
· No littering at any stage of the walk.
· Do not damage the flora at the Bougainvillea Gardens.
· Please be prepared to help fellow walkers in case of need.
· Please maintain social decorum and enjoy the walk.

ITEMS RECOMMENDED to be taken for the walk
· Cameras
· Walking Sticks
· Water Bottle
· Sunblock

Suggested CLOTHING for the trek
Comfortable walking boots with thick cotton socks to avoid blisters
Comfortable shorts/track/jogger pants with T-shirts or cotton suits for ease of walking
A cap or hat offers shade from the sun
A bandana or a handkerchief help to rein the hair
Small cotton handkerchiefs/towels to wipe your brow


WORD OF CAUTION - Since this is an event organized by Chandigarh Tourism Dept., CATS would be joining rest of the citizens from the Tri-City in this Heritage Walk.
