Get Ready for Action

Let me tell each and every participant in CATS' first trek to Nepli on 2nd September, that there had been a really tremendous response. There would be approximately 90 enthusiasts joining in the first trek. Welcome aboard.

Let's remember that this is not a Sunday PICNIC. This is a trek in which each one of us has to join to make this expedition a success. It is a rough nature trail, so be ready to experience the outdoors, and enjoy the Nature in its prestine glory.

We must mention that all of us hereby indemnify the Chandigarh Administration, the organisers at CATS, and STEPS, from any accidental injury, trips and falls, or any untoward incident, and we are joining in this trip at our own free will.

We are grateful that many of you have volunteered to take care of morning registration at the hotel, first-aid duties during the trek, supervising the breakfast, as well as being the group leaders.

We are assigning group leaders for every 20 odd members, and shall therefore appreciate your full cooperation and support in sticking with your group, and follow only the prescribed trek without any digression.

We are also planning some fun activities for the participants at the Inspection Bungalow.

We shall appreciate your cooperation...and make it an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Trek to Nepli Forest

NEPLI FOREST (Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary)

The first trek of CATS is a nature trail within Chandigarh, which passes through the woods, hill slope, around water bodies with a gentle gradient.

Apart from being an idyllic location for a quick getaway from city life, Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary offers a great opportunity to raise our awareness about the floral and faunal heritage of our city. You are very likely to spot an odd peacock, cuckoos, night jars, mynas, tree pies etc flying off a Khair, Phulai, Raeru, Semal, Kendu tree. Kids would enjoy seeing a jackal, wild boar, spotted deer or a sambhar amongst others in its natural habitat and do keep an eye open for the reptiles you may actually want to avoid!

The first CATS expedition is a short one in the beautiful sanctuary near Chandigarh, Nepli Forests, thanks to the enthusiastic support of Mr Ishwar Singh, Director Forests, Chandigarh Administration.
